Find Your Dosha with an Ayurvedic Assessment

ayurveda pulse reading in a pastoral setting

In Ayurveda, an ancient system of wellness, everything in nature—including you—can be understood through three main energies, called doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha. These doshas are each made up of a unique combination of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space). Understanding how these elements shape your body, mind, and daily life can unlock powerful insights into feeling your best.

Each dosha carries distinct qualities: Vata (air and ether) is light, dry, and full of movement, influencing creativity, flexibility, and the nervous system. Pitta (fire and water) is warm and intense, connected to digestion, transformation, and ambition. Kapha (water and earth) is stable, moist, and grounding, providing strength, calmness, and resilience. Everyone has a unique natural constitution, or “prakriti,” which is your inherent balance of these doshas. Your prakriti is like your Ayurvedic blueprint—it’s what makes you you. Then, there’s “vikriti,” which is your current state of balance or imbalance. Life events, stress, seasons, and habits can shift your doshas out of balance, causing discomfort or dis-ease.

Knowing your own prakriti and vikriti helps you understand what your body and mind need to thrive. When you know how the doshas affect you personally, you can adjust your lifestyle, diet, and routines to support balance and feel truly aligned. If you’re curious about finding your unique dosha balance and bringing your body back to its natural harmony, an Ayurvedic assessment can guide you. If you’d like to set up an appointment for an assesment, just let me know. We can meet in-person or on Zoom.
